Cashmere is the fine soft downy winter undercoat found on most goats that do not grow mohair. A goat which grows this fine undercoat of the correct quality and in sufficient quantities to be commercial is called a cashmere goat.
Cashmere is one of the finest commercial animal fibers, it is soft, warm, light, and luxurious. It is used to make some of the most expensive garments in the world.
